One of the bigger stories in Portugal towards the end of the summer transfer window, Yacine Brahimi’s transfer to Everton never materialised.
The selling club, Porto, were allegedly very keen for a transfer to go through, which is understandable when they had clubs interested and could potentially get €40m for him.
Despite many claims of last minute offers that never quite added up, Brahimi eventually remained at the Portuguese side, and has returned to the first team, albeit with a bit less impact than the previous season.
This dip in performances has seen his value drop quite considerably, with reports Le Buteur had said he would be available for €18-20m in the summer.
Looking at said article, the Algerian website claim that price tag has come from the French and Portuguese media, which we cannot find.
Marseille and Roma are said to be very interested in the Algerian winger, and at €18-20m, he would certainly be an affordable option for both clubs, yet would represent a true bargain for a Premier League side.
Whether that dip in price is real or not remains to be seen, but taking into account the fact his contract runs out in 2018/19 and his dip in form, he certainly won’t cost €40m.
And this could be very good news for Ronald Koeman, who is clearly a fan of the Algerian forward.
