With news that Brighton’s efforts to sign Batista Mendy from Nantes were all in vain after the young defender decided it might be best to stay where he was instead of moving abroad, the Seagulls have moved onto a new one.
According to RMC Sport, the next youngster on their list is Paris Saint-Germain’s Moussa Sissako, a 17-year-old centre-back who is yet to sign his first professional contract with the club.
Having already trained with the first-team a few times this year, the young defender is seen as one of the more promising talents in the club’s youth system, yet the club are yet to hear back from him regarding the offer they’ve made him.
One of the reasons for this is the fact clubs from abroad, like Brighton, have also contacted him, and talks between Sissako and Chris Hughton’s side have been ongoing for a few weeks, offering him a long-term project.
Much like the first reports surrounding their approach for Batista Mendy, the Seagulls are fairly confident to have made a good impression on Sissako, even if the 17-year-old has yet to make a final decision.
While other, bigger clubs have also come forward with their interest, the Paris Saint-Germain youth product is said to favour a club that would allow him to play first-team football sooner rather than later.
RMC Sport seem to think this means there’s a good chance they could get him to stay.
We’ll have to wait and see.
