‘Failed attempt’ from club to sign Tottenham player on deadline day – Spurs were ‘adamant’

Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil was among the options considered by Lazio to bolster their attack in the winter market.

Last Friday, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà explained that intermediaries had offered the winger to the Serie A side.

Calciomercato.it state the Biancocelesti ‘had reconnected’ with the Tottenham player’s intermediaries, to acquire his services on deadline day.

The report states it was a ‘failed attempt’ from the Italian club to sign 22-year-old and that’s because of Spurs.

Maurizio Sarri’s side wanted to sign the Spain international on a loan deal, but the north London club were ‘adamant’ about including an obligation to buy as part of the deal.

Ange Postecoglou has handed only two league starts to the Spain international and used him as a substitute on seven occasions this season. The former Sevilla player was left on the bench in the north London club’s last two fixtures.

Gil, who has clocked in 217 minutes from 10 games, will find it difficult to get regular minutes, considering Tottenham only have Premier League games left this season.
