Rodrigo de Paul’s future is now a daily topic in the Italian sport media, with Leeds United continuing to be mentioned.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were repeatedly linked during the last window, when it was reported they didn’t want to meet Udinese’s €40m asking price for the Argentine. That figure is thought to have dropped a little, to around €35m, yet should Leeds return now they’d have Juventus to worry about.

Inter Milan are also thought to be interested in the player, and there’s a battle building ahead of coming transfer windows. De Paul has made it clear he won’t force an exit from Udinese, and he didn’t want to agitate for a move during the last window, but given he turns 27-years-of-age next summer there’s surely the desire to move on to bigger things.

Inter and Juventus would certainly be that, but a switch to the Premier League could also be appealing, especially coupled with the chance to play under Bielsa. InterLive believe that almost happened in the summer, stating De Paul was very close to signing for Leeds United, and then it was a case of a ‘faded signature at the photo-finish’.

Andrea Radrizzani and his Italian network will no doubt be keeping an eye on the player and the possibility of Leeds returning remains.
