It seems that Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz still won’t be able to play for Manchester City this season.

That’s because the Football Association has rejected the club’s request for his work permit, according to reports from Globo Esporte.

The website claims that Manchester City have sent a report with arguments from Pep Guardiola and Brazil manager Tite. The national team boss claimed that the player is on his radar for the next call ups.

However, that still wasn’t enough for the FA to accept it. That should force Manchester City to loan Douglas out once again.

The midfielder had been much used by Pep Guardiola during the pre-season, and the Brazilian media had already claimed that his stay at the club for the season would depend on the work permit.

Douglas was signed by Manchester City from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama last summer in a €12m deal. He spent the last season on loan at Spanish club Girona.
