On Sunday Bild had a strangely entertaining article about Ivan Gazidis and Sven Mislintat travelling to Dortmund on Sunday.
The German newspaper had someone follow the pair from the airport to a law firm and then to a hotel where Borussia Dortmund officials were waiting for talks.
Curiously, and for reasons nobody really knows, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s car was at the private terminal where Ivan and Sven arrived, leading Bild to throw in this tale: ‘He (Gazidis) sees the chrome-coloured sports car of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, shoots a cell phone photo of the car. Then he goes back to the terminal. With another club representative, he comes out again, both look at the car together, smile.’
On Monday Bild reiterate that Dortmund’s ‘pain threshold’ (the amount they can’t say no to) is €70m, and talks continue.
It’s suggested there could be a big clue today about what is going on, as Aubameyang is due to training at 2.30pm UK time.
Having managed to annoy his teammates again at the end of last week, if a transfer is on the verge of happening then he may be kept out of training.
The again, if Dortmund are becoming frustrated in Arsenal talks they may insist the striker takes part, to send a message to Gazidis that Aubameyang is still very much a BVB player and that will conitnue unless the demands are met.
Kicker report that should Arsenal and BVB agree on an Aubameyang transfer, Olivier Giroud will be going the other way on loan, at least until the end of the season.
