Back in December, West Ham were linked with a move for former Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand.

The Hammers ended up hiring Graham Potter as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui and since then, they have won three games in the Premier League.

Things may or may not have been different if Hjulmand had joined West Ham and he’s now spoken to Politiken about his situation, revealing that he received many offers and had to reject all of them.

He said: “I can’t say what, but it’s overwhelming. There have been many exciting offers, and it has been extremely hard to say no to any of them, because I’ve wanted to jump on it.”

Speaking further, he spoke of why he decided to reject offers.

Hjulmand said: “I experience enormous freedom in that I can do whatever I want on a Sunday, and I don’t have to watch 25 games in a week, and I can travel wherever I want. But next to the freedom, I’ve thought: ‘Man, what am I doing?’”

Ekstrabladet have also relayed these quotes, while stating that West Ham expressed their interest in hiring the 52-year-old. Bayer Leverkusen have also been an interested party.

Hjulmand is still a consultant for the Danish Football Association but he left the role of the national team boss because of his belief that the team needed new ideas.
