On October 14th, we carried a report from O Jogo, who explained that Enzo Fernández is already being targeted by Liverpool.
Today’s edition of the same newspaper mentions the Reds’ interest in the Benfica star.
Along with the 21-year-old, Liverpool also have his midfield partner at the club, Florentino Luís, on their agenda.
Florentino signed an extension with the Eagles on Friday and his new deal runs until 2027. O Jogo state it also has a €120m release clause, which is the highest in the squad, along with that of the Argentina international and Gonçalo Ramos.
After spending the last two years on loan at AS Monaco and Getafe, Florentino is having a prominent role at Benfica. He has formed a good partnership with Fernández in the middle of the pitch as the duo have featured in all 17 matches this season.
The Portugal U21 international’s performances have not gone unnoticed.
O Jogo claim there has already been ‘exploratory contacts form Liverpool’. It’s further claimed Jürgen Klopp’s side are also ‘very interested’ in Fernández.
As the Reds move forward for the two midfielders, it will not be easy for them to sign the duo, considering Florentino has signed an extension and Benfica manager Roger Schmidt doesn’t want to part ways with the South American.
