West Brom are desperately flapping around trying to sign many players before the end of the transfer window, and they’ve just missed out on another one.

Earlier today, we reported that Tony Pulis’ side were in negotiations with Angers over the potential transfer of Romain Thomas, but that deal is now off.

Sport Witness has learnt the Ligue 1 side pulled the plug on the deal after they realised they wouldn’t have time to sell and then replace their starting centre-back.

The 28-year-old was also a target for the likes of Crystal Palace and Stoke City back in January, but West Brom were the ones to make a move for him this summer.

Unfortunately for everyone involved (maybe not Angers), they appear to have left it too late, which is what fans always dread when they enter this particular day of the transfer window.

Who’s West Brom’s backup plan? We’re about to find out…
