Late last night, an article was published on FootMercato reporting that Sunderland had made contact with Romain Alessandrini’s entourage about a possible move.
The winger endured a difficult season last year at Marseille, only making 22 league appearances for the Ligue 1 side, but still managed to pick up five goals and four assists for his side in the process.
With David Moyes trying to bolster his side up front after letting Jeremain Lens go out on loan to Fenerbahce, a new wide player certainly seems like a sensible incoming at the Stadium of Light.
However, Sport Witness has learnt from a source close to the player that there is nothing concrete as of yet between Sunderland and Marseille for a deal to be done.
This doesn’t mean that nothing will happen, as transfer can happen very quickly on deadline day, but it could be that Sunderland are looking at other targets first before making a decision on the 27-year-old former Rennes star.
