Manchester United are still reluctant to let midfielder Andreas Pereira leave on a loan deal, Sport Witness understands.
The player is currently wanted by Spanish side Valencia, who initiated contact a couple of weeks ago, but are struggling to convince the Premier League club.
Both manager José Mourinho and the club’s board believe Pereira can be useful during the season, even though the player didn’t manage to get any minutes in the first three Premier League games.
Pereira spent last season on loan at La Liga side Granada, where he managed to impress despite the club’s relegation, and was closely followed by José Mourinho and his staff, who kept in constant touch with him.
Valencia are expected to make more efforts over the next couple of days, with the club’s owner Peter Lim at the forefront. But they’ll have to work hard to convince Manchester United, and also Pereira, to accept such move.
Claims in Spain this week that everything is agreed and the move is ‘official’ are clearly wide of the mark.
