Liverpool are keeping tabs on Santos wonderkid Angelo Gabriel, Sport Witness has learned.
Following the teenager’s first few months as a professional, the Reds are now monitoring the winger’s development and analysing the possibility of a move.
Liverpool are now alongside Real Madrid in the list of clubs who’d like to get in early in the battle for Angelo’s signing, sources from Santos say.
A few years ago, the Reds had already followed Rodrygo, who ended up leaving the Brazilian side for the Santiago Bernabeu in a €45m move in 2019.
Now both clubs want to be prepared in case they need to move ahead of the competition.
Angelo was only 15-years-of-age when making his debut for Santos’ first team in October last year. Now at the age of 16, he made his first appearance in the Copa Libertadores last night, in a match against Venezuelan side Deportivo Lara.
The appearances he’s made so far have been enough to show his potential, as he’s been easily dribbling past defenders and creating several chances for goals. His skills and speed remind Santos fans of Rodrygo’s early days at the club.
Angelo signed his first professional contract in December last year. He’s tied to the Brazilian side until December 2023 and has a release clause of €60m.
