The week had a great start for Manchester City fans. After the superb 6-0 win over Watford at the weekend, it’s now also been reported that starlet Gabriel Jesus is set to sign a new contract at the club.
The Citizens would be impressed with player’s success, aware others will be too, and besides giving him a pay raise, they would also extend the current deal for one further year.
But despite all the optimism from the local press, Gabriel’s agent Cristiano Simões is still being very careful when talking about the matter.
The representative had a quick chat with Sport Witness on Tuesday, and refused to confirm the deal is so close to be signed.
Asked about how negotiations are going, Simões claimed that “there’s nothing so far”, and even denied that talks have started, with a clear “no”.
Finally, asked if it would be easy for the youngster to accept a new Manchester City deal, the agent replied with a “let’s see”.
Simões has never been a big fan of confirming deals before they’re signed. A few days before the transfer from Palmeiras to Manchester City was made official, he insisted there wasn’t even an offer for the move to happen.
Gabriel Jesus’ agent could be withholding a renewal being close, or perhaps things really aren’t as far advanced as has been suggested.
