Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to signing Davinson Sanchez from Ajax, Sport Witness has learned.
The player’s request to make the move has helped things develop well in the past few days, and the Dutch side have finally accepted to discuss the transfer with Spurs.
It means things are broadly straightforward, but not easy. And whilst things are almost done, it’s getting everything over the line which is, naturally, proving difficult.
Tottenham are still struggling to meet Ajax’s demands, so despite the optimism from all parties involved, the tug-of-war between the clubs still isn’t over.
Both want to come out of the mini saga looking like they’ve got a good deal, and that requires a balancing act in negotiations.
Sanchez was one of the highlights from Atlético Nacional’s team which won the Copa Libertadores in 2016. He made the move to Ajax right after the end of the competition, in a €5m deal.
The 21-year-old didn’t need any time to adapt to European football, and held a starting spot in the team for his entire first season at the Dutch side.
