Burnley have agreed a deal with Botafogo for defender Vitinho to join the Brazilian side before the end of the transfer window.
Sport Witness understands that Botafogo have finalised a deal with Burnley for the full-back, worth €8m plus small bonuses that could take the deal to €9m.
The defender has also been offered a contract until 2029. A deal is now in the final stages. Nothing has been signed as yet but there is optimism a deal can be done.
Vitinho has been targeted by Botafogo after being monitored by the Brazilian national team. This led Botafogo’s scouting team to recommend the Burnley man to John Textor and his team.
The question remains over whether Vitinho will accept the move. A recent report from Brazil indicated Botafogo had initially been turned down by the Burnley man.
That same report stated that he had made it clear he would like to remain in Europe at this moment in time after moving to Cercle Brugge from Cruzeiro in July 2018.
He joined Burnley in July 2022 and has made 80 appearances for them since but their relegation from the Premier League has led to suggestions he could move on.
Sport Witness now understand Botafogo have reached an agreement with Burnley for him, and it remains to be seen what the 25-year-old decides.
