If Chelsea are interested in Fiorentina’s midfielder Milan Badelj, as Goal.com on Friday reported, it’s news to the player’s agent.
Speaking to Sport Witness, Dejan Joksimovic explained he has had ‘no contact whatsoever’ with the London club, and this has been a recurring answer to any reports regarding Premier League interest in his client.
Since the end of the transfer window, English clubs have been placed next to Milan Badelj’s name, and the answer from his agent has always been the same.
Furthermore, if the player is to go anywhere in the near future, it’ll probably be within Serie A.
Explaining AC Milan had a €15m bid rejected over the summer, Joksimovic made it clear there was ‘no way’ his client would be renewing his contract with Fiorentina, but that nobody from the Premier League had spoken to him about a deal for Badelj.
Milan seem to remain the favourite in the midfielder’s eyes, and with Riccardo Montolivo injured, reports in Italy suggest the Croatia international is their number one target to replace the Italian.
Things can happen very quickly in football, and there’s plenty of time for an English team to swoop in and snatch Badelj form under Milan’s nose.
First, though, they’ll need to talk to his agent, and no one has done that as of yet.
