Causing something of an article storm last week when news emerged Manchester United were interested in signing him, Krépin Diatta didn’t take long to comment on the speculation.
Explaining moving to Old Trafford is his ‘dream’, the 18-year-old forward might have to wait a bit longer before getting his big transfer.
Currently at Sarpsborg 08 in Norway, Diatta is enjoying a decent season with the Eliteserien side, scoring seven goals in 19 appearances, as well as picking up an assist, hence the interest from big clubs.
However, speaking to FootMercato, the player’s entourage are trying to calm things down as best they can, preferring a move to a slightly more reasonable club than Manchester United for the Senegal U20 international.
They said: “The objective is to play. I don’t think he’s ready for a big European club. You need to go through the steps methodically”.
Without a release clause in his contract, Sparsborg will be free to ask as much as they want for their little starlet, who is also attracting interest from FC Bruges and CSKA Moscow.
Expected to be at the centre of next summer’s transfer window, it’ll be interesting to see who comes knocking.
A lot will depend on whether or not this form continues.
