It’s a fact that European leagues get more popular in countries where the players come from. This has been growing attention for the Premier League in Latin America, with the arrival of so many of their players in the past few years.

Mexican outlet Heraldo brings an interesting story saying Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez could be soon the country’s top scorer in a Premier League season.

This accomplishment currently belongs to Javier Hernandez, who scored 13 goals for Manchester United in his first year at Manchester United.

Now El Heraldo shows that Jimenez, who has nine this season, would surpass Chicharito’s mark if he keeps this form.

The projection is explained with a minutes per goal ratio, as the Wolverhampton star has scored a goal every 225 minutes for the club this season. That would make him score 14 goals by May.

Heraldo recalls other Mexican stars who have scored a few goals in the Premier League.

They were Jared Borgetti (Bolton), Guillermo Franco (West Ham), Nery Castillo (Manchester City), Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham) and Carlos Vela (Arsenal).

Raul Jimenez’s exploits at Wolves are helping the club and league gain more followers in football-mad Mexico. Perhaps Nuno Espirito Santo can add another Mexican (cue Hector Herrera links) and turn the country into Wolves’ new Portugal.
