At the end of June, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who claimed Chelsea have a pre-agreement with CSKA Moscow for the transfer of Aleksandr Golovin.
The Blues owner, Roman Abramovich is said to be a good friend of the Russian club’s president, Yevgeny Giner. This has helped the FA Cup winners sit in the driving seat ahead of Barcelona and Juventus in the race to sign the player.
Valery Gazzaev managed CSKA Moscow for six years between 2001 and 2008. The 63-year-old has now claims Golovin has already “signed a contract” with the Premier League outfit.
“Golovín will decide for himself where it would be best for him to be transferred. As far as I know, he has already signed a contract with Chelsea, which I think is a good option,” Mundo Deportivo quoted Gazzaev as saying.
The 22-year-old has been one of the stand out players for Russia at the 2018 World Cup currently taking place in their homeland. The hosts have made it to the quarter-final of the tournament, where they will face Croatia on Saturday.
Gazzaev stressed a move to Chelsea comes with a “great responsibility” for Golovin. He also believes the midfielder is ready to take the next big step in his career, having played in the World Cup with Russia and the Champions League with CSKA.
“I think he is ready, considering that he is playing in the World Cup and has already played games in the Russian championship and the Champions League,” the ex-CSKA coach added.
