On February 4th, Valencia confirmed that Dani Parejo has signed an extension that will keep him at the club until 2022 and he has a release clause of €50m in his new contract.

The 29-year-old came up through the ranks of the Spanish capital club’s youth system and in the summer of 2008, Los Blancos allowed him to join Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan deal.

QPR were in the Championship and he made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops before the 13-time European champions recalled him due to an injury crisis they were then facing.

Today’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS takes a look at his journey so far and while talking about his brief spell at Loftus Road, they claim that Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stéfano, who was also their honorary president, was unhappy with Parejo’s move to QPR.

Di Stéfano, who played and managed Real Madrid, was so angry at the club for allowing Parejo to go out on loan that he stopped attending Real Madrid Castilla matches.

Unfortunately for Parejo, his time at QPR was not sufficient for him to cement a place at Santiago Bernabéu as he was sold to Getafe in 2009.
