Former Leeds United forward Andy Ritchie believes Marcus Antonsson has something about him after making his league debut against QPR last weekend. The Swede signed for Leeds United earlier in the window from Kalmar, and was Garry Monk’s first signing since he arrived at Elland Road.

Writing in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Ritchie said when Antonsson came on as a substitute in the loss to QPR the forward showed he could bring something to the Leeds United team.

Ritchie thinks the runs Antonsson was making in the game last Sunday showed the player has intelligence, and unlike Chris Wood he could get behind the QPR defence.

“I thought that Marcus Antonsson, when he came on at QPR to support Chris Wood up front, looked to have a bit about him, although he missed a good chance – but he obviously went on to score a good goal at Fleetwood. His runs looked pretty intelligent and he was trying to get in behind, which is not Wood’s forte,” said Ritchie on Leeds United’s new signing.

Marcus Antonsson joined Leeds United in June from Allsvenskan side Kalmar. The Swede signed a three-year deal with Leeds United for a fee in the region of £2m.
