Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tanguy Ndombele has barely arrived at Lyon and the chances of a permanent move are already being discussed.

Speaking to the local media today, club president Jean-Michel Aulas was quizzed about the midfielder, and brought a few details of the talks with Spurs.

The official praised Ndombele’s efforts to make a comeback to the French side, and made it clear that it’s possible they’ll trigger the buying option over him.

“I’m very happy that he came back, with Bruno Cheyrou and Vincent Ponsot at the helm, because we had to discuss with the president of Tottenham who had bought him very expensive,” said Aulas (via RMC Sport).

“He participated in the commitment to come back by investing himself personally. He’ll have to miss a few games, it’s only the beginning… but if we win the Europa League, everything will be possible.”

Ndombele made two appearances for Lyon so far, and now has a few months to prove himself at the French side. His loan is combined with a buying option worth €65m, a quite high fee for the Ligue 1 club, so he’ll definitely have to show a lot to convince them of paying that much.

In case of a return to Tottenham, his contract with Spurs runs until 2025.
