Whenever players, especially younger ones, leave Premier League clubs to develop elsewhere on loan, we try and keep you in the loop as much as possible.

Charly Musonda Jr.’s loan from Chelsea to Real Betis, for example, has been a series of ups and downs for the young Belgian, with the whole ordeal seemingly coming to an end sooner than first expected.

Plagued with a knee issue, the young forward has been forced to return to Stamford Bridge twice since he first moved to Spain in order to get his injury looked at, and recent reports have started to suggest Betis could cancel the loan early.

According to Estadio Deportivo in Spain, ‘everything points’ towards this, with the La Liga club wanting to strengthen their squad in January and sending Musonda back to Chelsea would leave a free space in the squad for that.

The change in managers also didn’t help, with Victor Sanchez’s 5-3-2 too narrow to get the most out of the winger, and a return to Belgium could even be on the cards for the youngster.

Het Nieuwsblad reported over the weekend that his former team Anderlecht could come to the rescue in January and offer him the opportunity to finish the season in a familiar environment.

Chelsea and Antonio Conte will, at this stage, just want the player to get some game time, and with Anderlecht a bit short on wingers, the move could be ideal, even if the Belgian club would prefer experience over talent at this stage.

We’ll have to see what happens, but, on paper, this sounds like a good idea if Betis really do cut the loan deal short.
