For over a month, Everton have been discussed as one of the suitors for Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo.
On July 24th, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who explained the Toffees followed the defender with ‘great interest weeks ago’, but they have drifted away as his next destination.
It was then explained Rennes are the most interested club in the centre-back.
Barca need to make ‘cash’ through the sale of players this summer, and the France U20 international is among them the main candidates, according to today’s edition of Sport.
The La Liga club are asking for a fixed fee of €20m plus €5m in bonuses to sanction his sale.
It’s claimed Carlo Ancelotti’s side have ‘frozen interest’ in the former Toulouse man. The Frenchman, however, ‘continues to speak’ with the Merseyside club and ‘everything points to Everton’. The newspaper then cautions ‘nothing is ruled out’.
AS Roma, who are also after the 20-year-old, have ‘asked again’ for Todibo.
With regards to the Spanish side’s stance on the player, Sport state Barcelona ‘don’t want to wait any longer’ to get him off their books.
The report is slightly contradicting because they initially state Everton have ‘frozen interest’ in Todibo, and then explain ‘everything points to Everton’.
It would appear Barcelona are the ones making the effort to send Todibo to Goodison Park.
