Close to being back to full fitness, Ibrahima Konaté is expected to return to Liverpool’s line-ups sooner rather than later.
The defender was one of the big reasons why Liverpool were so successful last season after he convinced Jürgen Klopp to start him, especially in the Champions League, and the player sat down with Onze Mondial this month to talk about how life has changed since he moved to the Reds.
One of the biggest issues, if you want to call it that, is that he’s now recognised everywhere, something the German manager warned him about, but there’s no denying he’s enjoying his new status.
Not only that, but he’s loving life at Anfield, to the point where he would be quite happy for Liverpool to be the last club of his career.
At 23 years of age, it might be a bit early to say this, but that’s how much the club has impacted him since he’s arrived.
He said: “Before I came, I did some research even if I already knew a lot. Now, I’m at Liverpool, and the truth is I don’t really see a bigger club. When you’re here, you have everything: a big clubs, a great history, always in line to win the Champions League, the Premier League and all the trophies with amazing fans.
“I”m 23, and it’s a club in which I could finish my career. This club is among the top three in the world, but you also need to be good enough to finish your career here. (laughs)”
Konaté has yet to make an appearance for Liverpool this season, but was on the bench against Rangers in the Champions League, meaning those first minutes could be right around the corner.
