On March 9th, Sport stated Leeds United are ‘at the forefront’ to sign Barcelona youngster Ilias Akhomach.
The 18-year-old has made three appearances since his first team debut in November 2021. Xavi Hernández hasn’t provided him any opportunities this season. With a contract expiring in June, the winger continues to attract interest from Leeds and other clubs.
The latest report from Sport states Akhomach is unlikely to sign a new deal and ‘everything indicates he will go to’ Leeds for free in the summer.
This report surfaces two days after Voetbal Krant detailed Club Brugge interest in the Spain U19 international. It was also explained the Jupiler Pro League side would only stand a chance to sign the teenager if the Whites [currently 19th] are relegated.
Sport provide no update on the Premier League side’s chances of sealing the teenager’s deal, if they drop to the second division. Despite the uncertainty over where they will play next season, recent claims have named Javi Gracia’s side as the main candidate for him
Voetbal Nieuws relay this and then add that with Leeds leading the transfer chase, Club Brugge will have to put in a lot of work or it could even be ‘virtually impossible’ for them to acquire Akhomach’s signature.
