Aston Villa look set to complete a deal for Villarreal defender Pau Torres and ‘everything indicates’ that it will be finalised this week.
That’s according to Onda Cero and Marca, who say the player already has an agreement in place with Unai Emery’s side to make the move to Villa Park.
Reports in England today have indicated that Aston Villa have struck an agreement with Villarreal to sign the defender and reunite him with former manager Emery.
This morning there were ‘new movements and new meetings’ between the two clubs and ‘everything indicates’ that the sale will be finalised before the end of the week.
The player is currently ‘travelling’ after getting married but that is unlikely to hold up the potential deal, with Marca adding that they have ‘closed the agreement’.
According to their information Aston Villa and Villarreal have ‘shaken hands’ on a deal worth €40m with €5m of those in variables.
They back up that Torres is on holiday and currently ‘out of Europe’, suggesting he needs to return before anything can be closed. When he does return he will sign a five-year contract at Villa Park.
The deal is done either way, though, and Emery will be reuniting with a player who was key to his success at Villarreal.
