Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal has spoken to the Brazilian media ahead of the Premier League clash against Luton Town at the weekend.

Spurs are looking to steal Manchester City’s place at the top of the table, so that’s another big game for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Emerson talked about how hard it will be to play at Kenilworth Road, and he believes it will require some special focus from Tottenham.

“It’s an extremely difficult game with a team that has been trying to conquer positions, they come from the Championship. So we have to be careful because in these small stadiums, the pressure is very high. So we have to be calm to play our football,” Emerson Royal told ESPN Brasil.

The fullback was also asked whether Tottenham can indeed fight for the Premier League title this season. He claimed that’s not an issue concerning the squad at the moment, but the team does have the ability to compete for that achievement and there’s possible time ahead to dream.

“People at home even joke with me that everything I enter, I enter to win. Everything I want to be the best. And I believe that our team came in with that mentality. Obviously it’s too early for us to think about a title or things like that. Certainly if we continue with the path we have been taking, we will be able to dream about this in the future. But we think one game at a time.”

Emerson sounds as happy as always, but he’s actually been struggling to get a place in Postecoglou’s team this season. Despite a start in the Premier League’s opening round against Brentford, when he even scored a goal, he hasn’t been a starter in the league since, having stayed on the bench in the last two matches, against Arsenal and Liverpool.
