Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has arrived in Argentina ahead of their first game following the World Cup title.
At the airport, the 22-year-old was already interviewed by the local media, and spoke to TyC Sports about the big moments he’s been living.
That includes the record transfer to Chelsea which took place in the January transfer window, with the Blues spending €121m to get him signed from Benfica.
“Everything happened very quickly. I’m trying to enjoy responsibly. Very happy for everything I achieved,” Enzo Fernandez told TyC Sports.
Regarding the upcoming friendly against Panama, which will take place on Thursday at the Monumental de Nuñez, the home of his former club River Plate, Fernandez is expecting a great atmosphere from the fans.
“Crazy. I always say that people are crazy. I hope that the Monumental is a party.”
“Playing again at the Monumental is special. Plus, celebrating the Cup with the boys. Waiting for the moment to enjoy it”
“Have a lot of fun, cheer up. We’re going to have a beautiful night.”
Fernandez had already been doing great for Benfica this season, having already been linked to Premier League clubs, but his performances at the World Cup is what convinced Chelsea to rush for his signing and beat the competition for him in January.
As soon the midfielder arrived at the Stamford Bridge, he became a starter and never left Graham Potter’s line-up, becoming an immediate fix for some issues that the Blues had been showing in the first part of the season.
