Tottenham star Cristian Romero has insisted he has no problems with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, despite kicking him when the two sides met last week.

The defender has been speaking to El Doce ahead of linking up with the Argentina national team for this international break, which will see him link up with Fernandez, who is also a key player for his country.

That could have led to some awkwardness given that the last time the two met ended up with the Tottenham man being sent off.

Romero saw red when Chelsea met Tottenham last week, being handed a straight dismissal following a wild challenge on Fernandez.

The red mist appeared ato have descended on the player during the game, with him also fortunate to escape a red card for a David Beckham-esque kick out against Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, which VAR decided was not worthy of punishment.

That was not the case with the challenge on Fernandez, with a studs up challenge inside the penalty area seeing him sent off and the Blues handed a penalty, which Cole Palmer then dispatched to level the scores.

Chelsea eventually went on to win 4-1, handing Tottenham their first defeat of the season, but Romero insists there is no ill-will between him and his compatriot.

“Always happy and happy to return to the National Team, what I love the most and what I enjoy so much,” he said.

“Obviously everything is fine (between him and Fernandez). They are things that happen in the game, they remain there, always.”
