Last week Ruben Neves gave an interview which included a section talking about Barcelona.
The Wolves midfielder insisted all players would want to play for the Blaugrana, and that he was flattered with reports of interest from them. It was pretty much a come-and-get-me-plea, and after a few days of simply covering his comments there’s now something more detailed from the Catalan media.
Tuesday’s edition of Sport claims Neves had been keeping quiet about Barcelona because he didn’t want to derail the plan that Jorge Mendes has been working on.
Sport say any move will be ‘far removed’ from the €50m Wolves asked for last summer. Instead, Neves would move to the Camp Nou on a six month loan in January. There’d be a compulsory purchase option at the end of the loan, with the Catalan newspaper presumably believing the figure attached would be for much less than the €50m.
‘Everything is very advanced’ and it’s insisted Barcelona would have no economic problems with the deal, however, there are ‘doubts’ from a sporting perspective. Xavi Hernandez’s side have other options, and it feels like they’re keeping the Neves deal in hand in case they can’t get another over the line.
Whether the Wolves player knows that’s the scenario isn’t clear.
