Brentford returned to the top flight in 2021 and are currently in their second consecutive season in the Premier League.
The Bees are eighth in the table, level on points with Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion, who are in the sixth and seventh respectively. Ekstra Bladet points out Thomas Frank’s side have achieved this despite having the second smallest wage bill in the league.
Mathias Jensen details what aspects have helped Brentford enjoy a good run in the Premier League this season.
“This is a club where everyone likes each other. There is a good group and a good culture. This means a sense of community, where everyone is prepared to go the extra mile for each other. This also applies to those who come on from the bench,” he said, as quoted by Ekstra Bladet.
The midfielder managed only one assist from 31 league games last season. The situation has improved for him this season and he’s scored four goals and registered four assists from 26 matches. He aims to further improve his numbers.
“Goals and assists have been in demand in the role I have in the team. That is why it has been something I have been very keen to improve,” Jensen explained.
Back in January, Brentford rewarded the Denmark international with a new contract until 2026, with an option to extend it by a year.
On his decision to commit his long-term future to the English club, the player said: “We have proven that there is no reason to worry about relegation, even though many warned us about the second season [in the Premier League].”
“It does not change the fact that we can easily finish 16th next season. Because the difference between mid-table and the bottom [teams] is very small margins. It’s all about being sharp on the day. And we have been almost every time.”
