With Watford now relegated back down to the Championship, there’s been a lot of talk regarding the future of Ismaïla Sarr.
Still seen as a great talent even after a mixed bag of a season with the Hornets, the Senegalese winger is being linked to big clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United by the English media.
They might be interested, but, so far, the player has heard very little regarding an exit from Vicarage Road, explaining as such to Les Échos, relayed by Galsenfoot.
Asked about the rumours sending him to Anfield, he said: “Honestly, right now, I don’t really know what to say. We’re going to play in the Championship since there’s no transfer yet. I’m at the same level of information as everyone else when it comes to these transfer rumours.
“Every day, like everyone else, I get information like I’m going to play at Liverpool, Manchester United etc… But really, for now, we haven’t spoken about it internally”.
While currently focused on getting ready for the new season, the 22-year-old did admit that playing at a club like the one Jürgen Klopp currently manages wouldn’t be a bad move.
He continued: “Liverpool really are a big team, everyone would like to play there. They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last season, but there are other big teams in the English league.
“Honestly, I don’t have a choice to make yet. If that were to happen, I only wish for it to be a good team. For now, there are only assumptions”.
Signed from Rennes for a hefty fee of £27m, Sarr made 28 appearances in the Premier League for Watford this season, scoring five goals and assisting six others.
And the rumours sending him to Liverpool make some sense, since he found the back of the net twice and assisted the third in Watford’s surprise 3-0 dismantling of Klopp’s side back in late February.
