With Ferland Mendy on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, Lyon will be looking around the markets for a replacement.
There’s already been a group of players linked with a move to the Ligue 1 club, and that includes Everton’s Lucas Digne. Seriously impressing in his first season at Goodison Park, after a transfer from Barcelona, the fullback already has experience of playing in France from his time at PSG and Lille.
Away with the France national team, the Everton player has been quizzed on the claims of potential Lyon interest. His reaction to those claims will be what fans of the Toffees want to hear, but they won’t like knowing their player is aware of other transfer interest.
Quoted by RMC, Digne said: “A return to France, OL? I’m not aware. I am aware of interest from other clubs, but not of Lyon.”
On his situation at Goodison Park, the 25 year old explained: “I feel good at Everton, I was able to play all the matches, we had a good season and a project is underway, the club will invest again.you are never sure of anything in football, but I feel very good there.”
An exit this summer surely has to be unlikely. Everton would be against a sale, and another season doing as well as he has can only help Digne’s career.
