It’s no secret Everton boss Ronald Koeman and former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal don’t really share a good relationship after their time together at Ajax.
The duo first worked together at Barcelona, where Koeman was Van Gaal’s assistant. It worked quite well between the two of them in Spain, before they linked up again at Ajax in 2004.
Van Gaal was appointed as the director of football, and Koeman was the club’s new manager. However, Koeman thought Van Gaal interfered too much and it led to a frosty situation.
Things started to get worse, and in the end both of them left in the space of five months with Val Gaal the first one to leave the club.
It is believed the duo no longer share any kind of relationship, and don’t really like each other. However, things could change soon after Koeman admitted he is ready to mend his relationship with Van Gaal.
Speaking to Linda’s Zomerweek ( via Soccernews), Koeman admitted the duo just shook hands during games in the recent years, and don’t really share anything more than that.
He said: “That’s quite correct, and it’s just fine.”
Asked if he’d want to repair their relationship, Koeman replied:”Sometimes I say to my wife Bartina that we can just invite them over.”
The show host also suggested Koeman that the duo could settle their differences over a bottle of wine, and the Everton boss was in agreement.
He said: “Yes, an example.”
