In what was rather surprising information, a report appeared in France earlier this week that Everton had taken a look at Valère Germain.
The idea would have been for the soon to be free agent to bolster the attack at Goodison Park, where Carlo Ancelotti is keeping an eye out for reinforcements to help his current squad.
Germain, who is now 30, would have added determination, hard work and a few goals, but it appears, at least according to Le10 Sport, that he won’t be going there.
They state, looking at the situation and referring to L’Equipe’s article, they claim to have now ‘dismissed’ both Everton’s and Milan’s interest in the player, all the while confirming Celta Vigo’s and Sampdoria’s.
It was always a long shot, especially since German hasn’t exactly been a shining light in a disappointing season for Marseille, but free agents are always worth a look at, even if it is for a short-term contract.
Either way, Everton are likely looking elsewhere, with Marcel Brands normally in the market for younger targets.
