The Court of Arbitration for Sport have upheld Atyletico Madrid’s transfer ban for the summer window. Atletico had been confident the ban would be reduced so only the previous winter window would apply, but CAS have quite clearly seen things differently.
Atletico had been lining up purchases, such as Alexandre Lacazette and Sandro Ramirez, the second of which has also been of interest to Everton. Ronald Koeman scouted the player personally as he did his stuff for Malaga, but claims from Spain of an agreement with Atletico scuppered that.
Well, that move isn’t happening, which gives Everton a nice window of opportunity. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for Ronald Koeman to make his move right now and for Everton to try and seal a quick deal at the player’s €6m buyout clause.
Atletico may try and get Sandro to wait until January, but surely Everton can come up with many reasons to convince the player that doesn’t make a great deal of sense.
