Everton are interested in Inter Milan midfielder Matías Vecino and appear to be leading Sevilla in the race for his signature.

The Blues are on the hunt for a central midfielder this month, with injuries having decimated their squad in that position.

They were linked with an ambitious move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot earlier in the window, but it now seems they have turned their attention to Inter’s Vecino.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, there is interest in the midfielder from Sevilla but ‘above all’ Everton.

The newspaper reports that selling Vecino is looking like the ‘best solution’ for Inter this month, with him falling down the pecking order and not enjoying a good relationship with Antonio Conte.

Inter were keen to include him in a deal for either Christian Eriksen or Franck Kessié, but those options have cooled down, and so they are now looking at a permanent sale.

The Nerazzurri rate Vecino at around €20m, which would see them make a good ‘capital gain’ for their balance sheet.

Whether Everton, who announced record losses this week, would be willing to pay that, isn’t mentioned, although it seems likely Marcel Brands would try to negotiate that price down regardless.
