Everton Women should soon announce the signing of Damaris Egurrola, according to reports from the Spanish media.
Marca explains they’ve managed to confirm a story from El Confidencial which stated the 21-year-old is joining the Toffees.
The midfielder is currently in England, where she’s signing a two-year deal with the Merseyside club, and should see the move made official ‘in the coming hours’.
Damaris Egurrola spent the past six seasons at Athletic Club Femenino, and decided to leave at the end of her contract this summer.
There was a clause in her deal saying any other Spanish club would still have to pay compensation of €250k for her move, and there’s currently a legal fight to cancel that.
So even though she was ‘close’ to joining Barcelona, the Catalan side decided not to make the signing as they didn’t know if they’d have to end up paying the amount or not.
Marca claims that other clubs from France and England tried to sign the Spanish international as well, but she ended up taking Everton’s offer.
