Everton Women are ‘showing interest’ in the Sweden international duo of Nathalie Björn and Hanna Bennison.
The defender and the midfielder are currently at FC Rosengård. Björn arrived at the club from Eskilstuna United in 2018, while Bennison came up through their academy.
Björn and Bennison, however, are likely to move away from their current club, according to Fotbollskanalen.
It’s claimed Rosengård may not be able to retain their ‘two biggest stars’ for long because of Everton’s interest. The Women’s Super League side are looking to strengthen their squad for next season, which is why they are targeting the Swedish duo.
Rosengård sporting director Therese Sjögran has told Fotbollskanalen there has been a lot of interest from elsewhere for Björn and Bennison, but he doesn’t categorically mention the Toffees.
“There are two players, for whom there has been quite a lot of interest. With Bennison, it has been so very long, but we have not received any concrete offers, so I cannot comment on that,” Sjögran said.
The Rosengård director also admitted there’s some hope in retaining Bennison as the 18-year-old’s current deal runs down in 2022.
“I see great opportunities for that. I think she will take the step when she is ready, but then we will see when it will be,” Sjögran explained.
However, the Swedish side could struggle to retain Björn because her contract situation.
“We are in discussions, but she has expressed interest in leaving, so we will see where we land, but there are no concrete offers, so it is difficult to take a position on it,” Sjögran said about Björn.
“It will probably be so in such cases. If she does not want to extend, then [we have to] sell. The window opens in July, but as long as we do not have bids, I do not care so much about it. She is our player regardless,” the director added.
“I never give up. Björn is a very good player and important to us. You cannot give up on such a player.”
