Everton ‘would be willing’ to discuss a move for Napoli’s Hirving Lozano this summer should the Serie A side decide to move him on.
The Mexican forward arrived at Napoli as the club-record signing in a £34m deal from PSV Eindhoven in the summer.
He’s endured a challenging first year in Italy, though, managing just three goals and two assists in 23 games so far.
As a result, it’s been heavily rumoured that they could look to move him on this summer and cut their losses, although as yet no decision has been made on his future.
Corriere Dello Sport explain that right now, Lozano’s Napoli career is at a ‘sliding doors’ moment.
There is a chance that Lozano will be kept on and work his way into Gennaro Gattuso’s plans in a system that suits him, although that seems unlikely given the way the Italian has set up his side so far.
Alternatively, Napoli can throw the doors ‘open wide’ and sit down to discuss deals with any potential suitors that may arrive.
Everton would be one of them, with it stated that they would be a ‘comforting and comfortable choice’ given that Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of the play and the esteem between them is ‘mutual’.
What sort of price Napoli would be looking for, or whether there’s perhaps a loan deal to be done, isn’t mentioned, although it is made clear they would want a price that represents Lozano’s ‘value’.
That suggests they’d look to at least make their money back in any sale, although at this point Everton will have to wait for them to decide if they want to sell at all first.
