Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia is ‘sought after’ by Everton and West Ham United, according to Tutto Salernitana.

The striker has six goals and two assists from 14 league games and made it to the Senegal squad for the World Cup, where he managed a goal from four matches.

Salernitana took the 26-year-old on loan from Villarreal with an option to buy for €12m. They have every intention to make his stay permanent and then ‘fix the price’ for his sale next summer.

The Serie A side intend to retain Dia until the end of this season amid him being sought after by Everton and West Ham.

Over at Otto Pagine, they also state Salernitana want to retain the player but will have to deal with the interest from elsewhere.

The Senegal international has ended up in the sights of English clubs, ‘above all Everton and West Ham’.

These two sides have probed Dia’s entourage, likely to know the conditions to carry out his signing.

This will force Salernitana to step up their efforts to exercise the buying option. The report adds the contacts with the La Liga side took place in recent weeks, but the negotiations remain on standby, but a lot will depend on Dia’s form in the second half of this season.

It’s clear Salernitana’s idea is to buy Dia and sell him next summer, meaning Everton, West Ham and other clubs interested in the player may have to wait until the end of this campaign to sign him.
