It’s well known that both Everton and West Ham United are on the hunt for a new striker this summer.

Everton have only got Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the position, and intend to sell Cenk Tosun, while West Ham are in a similar spot.

They’ve got rid of Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez this season, while they also want to sell Javier Hernandez.

Their need for a new centre forward is obvious, and that has led to numerous rumours for the pair of them, one of which was to Valencia striker Rodrigo.

The Sun reported on Sunday that both clubs were keen on the forward and would pay €40m to sign him.

El Desmarque have picked up on that rumour today and explained why there’s no chance of it happening.

They say that Valencia aren’t even aware of any interest from the two clubs, the suggestion being it doesn’t exist, and that if they were, they wouldn’t entertain an offer of €40m for their striker.

In fact, the club’s CEO Mateu Almany recently reiterated in a press conference that “Rodrigo is a major player in Valencia CF’s squad. We’ll see what happens in the football market. I can only say that he is a very important player.”

However, El Desmarque don’t pour cold water on the idea of a move altogether.

In fact, they suggest that Rodrigo could be on the move this summer.

Before leaving for his holidays, the player posted a cryptic message on Instagram in which he failed to assure fans his future was in Valencia.

“As I have always said in the five seasons that I am in Valencia CF: I am a club player and then the club is the one that has their needs or not, as the general manager and coach have already said, everything depends on what goes. I cannot guarantee anything if I’m going to continue or not because this is the case,” he said.

The newspaper aren’t rubbishing the idea that Rodrigo could move, in fact, there’s a distinct possibility he could.

Their issue is the links to Everton and West Ham, and the €40m price tag put on top.

If Rodrigo is to move, they feel it will be for a much higher price than that.
