Everton and West Ham United are showing an interest in Auxerre midfielder Brahim Konate, according to claims in the Belgian media. The 20-year-old has also been linked with Jupiler side Standard Liege.
Voetbal Niuews have claimed Everton, West Ham United and Standard Liege are all in the race to sign Konate, but it’s the Belgian side who have made the first move. Both Ronald Koeman and Slaven Bilic will be hoping to bring in new recruits in this transfer window, and will now have to act quickly given the competition.
It’s been reported Standard Liege have already put in €1.5m bid to Auxerre for the youngster, and given Liege is a French speaking area of Belgium this could give them an advantage. Everton have coincidently been linked with Standard Liege forward Ishak Belfodil in the past couple of weeks, but the latest reports from Belgium suggest that move is now off.
Konate came through the Auxerre youth system, and in 2015 made his debut for the senior team. The young midfielder has since gone on to make fourteen league appearances for the French club, and has also represented his country at youth level.
Both West Ham and Everton are expected to recruit this month, and with less than two weeks remaining… they need to get a move on.
