When the Steven N’Zonzi Sevilla exit stories really started going, there was one English club linked with the midfielder. Everton were picked out and their interest reported in Europe, before others were brought into the chase.

Then N’Zonzi travelled to London and it led to claims of Arsenal interest and of negotiations being underway. Everton were still named in the stories, but Arsenal being thrown in generated wider interest.

At the time it felt like if it hadn’t been for the London trip then N’Zonzi wouldn’t have been linked to Arsenal, and given the player then insisted he’d only travelled to visit his child, it left Gunners links looking weak.

West Ham have also been dragged in, with David Moyes making it clear he’d be interested in the Sevilla player. Spanish newspaper AS say Everton and West Ham are ‘betting most’ on N’Zonzi, but it’s the Toffees interest which obviously goes back longer.

AS also state that with a managerial change having taken place, N’Zonzi could now stay at Sevilla.

It’s that managerial change which could drive things, but AS seem to suggest that N’Zonzi not getting top level interest, but rather Everton and West Ham, could have given his head a wobble.
