As claims emerge Everton are close to signing Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, a new interesting target shows up in the market.
That’s because Valencia are keen on selling their Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves, according to Deporte Valenciano. Alves had already been linked to the Toffees last summer, but ended up being kept by the Spanish side for one more season.
It’s claimed that although the goalkeeper has a good market value, it’s hard to convince him to leave the club, since Valencia is a nice city and he has a fine contract there.
Deporte Valenciano doesn’t give any information on how much the Spanish side would demand for the player. Although he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €6m, we reckon he would only leave for much more.
The 31-year-old’s contract with Valencia expires in 2019. Since Alves has been left out of the Brazilian squad and new manager Tite has been watching the Premier League closely, maybe that’s a good argument to take him this time.
Besides Everton, the goalkeeper was also linked to Manchester City at the start of the season. But since Pep Guardiola had just signed Claudio Bravo, we didn’t buy it at the time.
It’s increasingly clear Ronald Koeman is looking to add at least one goalkeeper this summer, and he’s got a variety of options to pick from if Pickford falls throughs.
