Everton’s Andre Gomes is an option for AS Roma as they seek a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Everton are ‘trying to sell’ the Portuguese midfielder.
The Italian side are on the hunt for a replacement for Wijnaldum, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint Germain earlier this month.
He’s now set for months on the sidelines, though, after fracturing his tibia following a clash with teammate Afena-Gyan in training.
They explain he is ‘lost’ at Goodison Park, with Frank Lampard leaving him out of his squad for the first three games of the season and actively ‘trying to sell him’.
That means Roma could potentially get him on the cheap, or even on loan, with Everton showing a willingness for the latter with their other deals this summer.
They’ve already shipped out Dele Alli on loan to Besiktas and Jean Philippe Gbamin is on the verge of joining him in Turkey via a loan move to Trabzonspor.
Both of those have been moved out to free up funds in the wage bill and perhaps Gomes would be allowed to leave in a similar fashion, given he is among the big earners at Goodison Park.
For now, he is simply on the list of Roma’s options but with Everton keen to get rid, there is a deal there to be done if the Italians and Jose Mourinho want it.
