Expected to be announced on Thursday, Ishak Belfodil still isn’t an Everton player, with Morgan Schneiderlin being presented instead to show the fans some work is still being done to improve the squad.
The Algerian striker, knowing his transfer wasn’t ready to be completed yet, actually took part in Standard Liège’s friendly against Borussia Dortmund in Spain on Thursday, playing in the first half before being subbed off.
According to DH in Belgium, there’s a rather frustrating reason as to why the deal is being held up: intermediaries trying to involve themselves in the Everton deal when they shouldn’t.
With a reported €12m fee agreed between Ronald Koeman’s side and the Belgian club, a few so-called agents are trying to interfere, most likely trying to get some money from the deal, and this is slowing everything down.
However, the Belgian newspaper reckon the player’s transfer to Everton should still get done soon, with the striker not expected to play in Friday’s friendly against FC Vaduz, taking part in a warm-down training session instead.
We wouldn’t worry too much just yet, Everton fans. There’s still a lot of confidence in Belgium this deal will get done.
