On Thursday, we covered two separate reports from the French media regarding the future of Rachid Ghezzal, who is an important target for Everton at the end of transfer window.
The 24-year-old winger is having to choose between either moving to the Premier League or signing a new contract with Lyon, as his current deal ends in June, meaning he’d be available on a free next summer.
Le Parisien and Footmercato both reported talks between the two clubs were underway, and Le Progrès, Lyon’s local newspaper, claim Everton have also met with the player’s representatives to discuss personal terms.
Ronald Koeman’s side are said to have made an ‘interesting offer, both financially and football-wise’, but the player wants to take some time to decide: either he takes the offer, renews his contract or runs down his current deal and leaves on a free.
The daily says he’ll take a few days to evaluate his options, but the offer from Everton seems to be on the table, while Lyon and the Premier League side have allegedly agreed terms for a transfer: the Merseyside club will pay €11m and 20% of any future transfer.
Not bad for a player in the last year of his contract.
