Catalan newspaper Sport have a small snippet in their ‘confidential’ section on Monday which claims Gerard Deulofeu is currently managing his own departure from Everton.
The former Barcelona player has been strongly, and repeatedly, linked with a move to AC Milan by the Italian media, and with Everton looking to recruit, it looks very much like Ronald Koeman wants to sign more players before he lets Deulofeu go.
Deulofeu hasn’t found any kind of prominence under Koeman at Everton and an exit looks sensible to reignite the player’s career. Very highly rated as a youngster, Deulofeu got on the wrong side of Luis Enrique, then had a poor loan period with Sevilla, before returning to Everton on a permanent deal.
As Deulofeu’s transfer continues to be ‘managed’, Aitor Karanka’s Middlesbrough have been brought into the the equation, but the AC Milan interest has looked strongest over the past week or so.
Middlesbrough have been strongly linked with a move for Stoke City’s Bojan, another former Barcelona wonderkid who needs to get his career back on track.
